- Why do I need white 7-segment display units in my simulator?
These unique white displays are a perfect accessory for your simulator
environment. They offer a superb white light, are the perfect size
for many aircraft autopilot and radio panels when forming multi-digit
displays, and are the closest in appearance to real aircraft displays
that we have found anywhere. They are truely superb looking digits.
You no longer have to be stuck using non-realistic colour displays.
You can simulate any colour you wish using these displays by simply
using a colour filter in front of the units, or leave them as they
come to give a fantastic white light.

plug into our 7-Segment Display Holders - easy, replaceable, no
fixed soldering!
- What size are the displays?
The units stand at 12.7mm tall, are 7.6mm wide, and 6mm deep. The
lightable digit height is 7.6mm, with a digit width of 4.1mm about
a 10° right incline. The pin lengths are 7mm starting from the
back of the unit.
The unit has a pure black face colour, with white back and sides.
- How do I use these digits in my simulator?
The easiest method by far is to use our special 7-Segment Display
Holders, which have been designed specifically for these special displays.
These holders offer the benefits of press-fitting the segment units
into special grippers to hold a sequence of digits from 1 to 6 units.
No hard soldering is required, and this allows the option of replacing
a unit in the future without having to buy a whole new holder. The
holder is then mounted in your simulator as you wish, and wires inserted
into a special header socket on the rear of the unit to feed back
to your control hardware, such as your SIM-board 7-Segment Display
Module.
- I need a mixture of 3, 4, 5 and 6 digit displays for my simulator. How
do I go about creating these displays using the segment holders?
The segment holders can accept upto 6 digits side-by-side
to create anything from a single digit display upto a 6 digit display.
All you need to do is insert the pins of the 7-segment display units
into the special grippers on the holder unit. You can choose the digit
position from which you would like to start your display, to fit your
needs. For example, you may not be able to mount your holder in a small
space in a particular area of your simulator if starting your display
sequence from the first (left-most) digit socket. Instead, simply start
it from any other digit such that you can mount the holder properly.
You can even turn the holder upside down if you need to!
After fitting the display units, simply insert some solid-core wire
into the header sockets on the rear of the unit and terminate at your
SIM-board 7-Segment Display Module (or other device).
Full details on the use of the 7-Segment Display Holders are available
on the Support pages.
- I have a very small space to mount a 7-Segment Display Holder. Can I cut
the unused portion of the holder away to help with fitting the unit into
the small space?
Yes! The holders are quite small anyway, but if you need to you can
use a small hacksaw or similar device to cut off the portion of the
holder that you are not using. For example, if you are mounting 3
digits on this particular holder, you can cut away the last 3 spaces
on the holder which would otherwise accept digits 4, 5 and 6.
